Can I install a regular ceiling fan on my covered patio?

Not exactly - standard indoor fans are not designed to handle outdoor moisture, temperature swings, or other elements. For covered patios, you’ll need at least a damp-rated exterior patio fan with sealed components. For any area exposed to rain or snow, only wet-rated outdoor ceiling fans will provide the necessary protection against direct water exposure and prevent failure or other hazards. 

What size outdoor fan works best for my small porch?

For more compact spaces that are under 100 square feet, you will want a small outdoor fan that is between 29 and 44 inches. Tighter spaces can benefit from hugger outdoor ceiling fans that mount flush against the ceiling, which will maximize your headroom while still delivering the breeze you need. 

Will a ceiling fan work on my sloped porch ceiling?

UL Wet Listed fans are certified for direct exposure to water and can be installed in uncovered areas where rain, snow, or sprinklers may reach them.  UL Damp Listed fans are designed for more covered areas like porches and gazebos, where moisture is present, but is not getting drenched by rain.
